Landscape Photography & Real-World Gear Testing
Detailed camera and lens reviews, field-based landscape sessions, and complete post-processing tutorials.
I create detailed camera and lens reviews, on-location landscape photography sessions, and practical post-processing tutorials for photographers who care about image quality and real-world results. Everything I share comes from years spent photographing outdoors and refining images in post.
Landscape Photography & Education
About ZJ Michaels
I’m a landscape photographer based in the Pacific Northwest, drawn to dynamic light and deliberate composition. To me, photography is equal parts field craft and post-processing refinement, and I approach both with the same level of intention and care.
Alongside my creative work, I publish in-depth gear reviews and editing tutorials grounded in real-world use, offering practical insight into how equipment choices and technique shape the final image.
Gear I Use
This is the core kit I rely on for landscape work:
Nikon Z7 II
Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 S
Nikon Z 24-120mm f/4 S
Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 S
For dedicated nightscape work, I use fast prime lenses for improved light gathering and cleaner low-light files.
I also maintain a lighter secondary kit for long hikes, backpacking trips, and situations where size and weight matter most.
